Volunteers of America Safe Haven

This former church was converted into a Safe Haven for Battered Women for the Volunteers of America.

The project houses twenty-five women in private sleeping rooms. The program also includes community rooms, counseling rooms, administrative offices, and community kitchen. Bathrooms have been renovated to meet ADA compliance and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems have been upgraded throughout. Finishes balance durability with the desire to create an environment that feels less institutional. Community spaces open up to the exposed steel trusses and skylights allow natural light deep into the space.
